This qualification is specifically for those individuals who are to become an emergency first-aider in the workplace. This one-day qualification meets the requirements of both the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Topics include:

• The roles and responsibilities of a first-aider

• Assessing an emergency situation safely

• CPR and AED

• Administering first aid to a choking casualty

• Dealing with shock, burns, scalds, bleeds, and minor injuries

This qualification is designed for individuals wishing to gain the training, knowledge and skills required to enable them to provide effective emergency paediatric first aid. It is ideal for pre-school or nursery staff, toddler group volunteers and childminders. It is also suitable for parents, relatives and foster carers.

• The roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first-aider

• Assessing an emergency situation safely

• CPR and AED

• Administering first aid to a choking infant or child

• Putting a casualty in the recovery position

• Dealing with shock, bleeds, bites, stings and minor injuries

The qualification is designed to allow learners to develop their knowledge and skills in basic life support to meet the needs of their role in work, or another setting.

Topics include:

• The roles and responsibilities of a first-aider

• Assessing an emergency situation safely

• CPR and AED

• Administering first aid to a choking casualty

• Dealing with shock, burns, scalds, bleeds, and minor injuries

• Dealing with sudden poisoning or an anaphylaxis

• Dealing with casualties with fractures, and spinal, head, or chest injuries

• Dealing with heart attacks, strokes, and other major illnesses
